Lawn Treatments
|
A thriving turf consumes more nutrients from the soil than are naturally replenished. Regular lawn treatments are necessary to replenish these vital nutrients; maintain a healthy, robust turf, and to stay ahead of crabgrass and weeds. Healthy lawns also are more likely to have disease and drought resistance. At Green Boys Lawncare, we believe in treating customers the way we'd like to be treated ourselves. So, we won't try to up sell you more lawn applications than you really need, and we won't lock you into a contract that you can't get out of. Our lawn treatment programs are designed to promote a healthy and attractive lawn. To accomplish this, we use the recommendations of the Missouri Extension. Their decades of turf grass testing and research, provides an excellent, unbiased source of turf grass information specific to our area. Read on to learn about our four and six step lawn treatment programs that include Pre- and post-emergent weed control, in addition to proper fertilizing. |

4-Step Program
The 4 step is our standard lawn maintenance program. It provides all of the fertilizer treatments recommended by the Missouri Extension, as well as crabgrass Pre-emergent and two broadleaf weed control treatments. With this program, the lawn is not treated during the hot, summer months; when the turf is stressed.
Step 1 - Early Spring--March--Fertilizer and Crabgrass Pre-emergent
This application prevents crabgrass seeds from germinating and invading your lawn in the summer!
Step 2 - Late Spring--April--Slow Release Fertilizer, Crabgrass Pre-emergent, & Broadleaf Weed Control
A controlled release feeding for your lawn with additional crabgrass pre-emergent, and broadleaf weed control.
Step 3 - Early Fall--September--Fall Fertilizer and Broadleaf Weed Control
Nutrients to help your lawn recover from the summer stress, with broadleaf weed control.
Step 4 - Late Fall--November--Winterizer Fertilizer
Encourages winter root growth, and helps promote an early spring green-up.
6-Step Program
The 6 step is our premium lawn maintenance program. It provides six fertilizer treatments, two crabgrass pre-emergent treatments, and four weed control treatments. This program is recommended for those who want a nice lawn all season long, and plan to water through the summer. Iron is applied in the summer for a green lawn without burning. This program includes yellow nutsedge control (known by many as water grass or nut grass), which is not included in our competitor's programs. The 6 step program is guaranteed, so we will re-treat if necessary.

Additional Treatments Offered
Yellow Nutsedge Control: Known by many as water grass or nut grass, yellow nutsedge is a common problem in Missouri lawns. It's pale green to yellow in color and grows rapidly in the spring and summer, often sticking up above the rest of the lawn only a few days after mowing.
Fungicide Treatment: Dollar Spot, Brown Spot, and other lawn fungus, can all be controlled with this lawn treatment.
Post-Emergent Crabgrass Control: Applying a pre-emergent herbicide for crabgrass in the early spring, is the best way to deal with this pesky weed grass. However, if you didn't get the pre-emergent down, or some crabgrass came up anyway, we can spray a herbicide named Drive for post-emergent crabgrass control.
Starter Fertilizer: A well-balanced, slow-release fertilizer, recommended after seeding. If you let us know that you have over-seeded, we'll substitute this treatment for your normal lawn application.
Soil Sampling: Soil Sample testing is recommended by Green Boys Lawncare as part of our complete lawn treatment program. The test results help us determine what nutrients are lacking in your lawns soil, and allows us to match our fertilizer application to your lawn's specific needs! Soil samples are tested through the Missouri Extension Soil Testing Laboratory, and are recommended every 3 years.
With Green Boys Lawncare, your lawn is in good hands. If we notice an issue with your lawn, we'll bring it to your attention, and make recommendations. We also have the ability to take samples of a damaged area, and send them to the Missouri Extension for analysis.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of having Green Boys Lawncare treat my lawn, as opposed to doing it myself?
Thanks for asking. There are many benefits to having us treat your lawn, compared with doing it yourself.
1.) We know what to apply, when to apply it, and how much to apply, for the maximum benefit to your lawn. I've talked to many homeowners who are well intended, but they get busy, and forget to make the application at the appropriate time, or they have to guess at what to use and how much to put down.
2.) You don't save much money by doing it yourself. Since we purchase materials in bulk, we are able to offer this service at an affordable price. When you add in your gas, your time, the necessity of purchasing and maintaining a spreader and/or sprayer, you can quickly see the benefit of having Green Boys Lawncare take care of your lawn.
How do I know what size my lawn is? An average size lot in Jackson County is about a quarter of an acre. This is roughly 11,000 sq. ft. Take away the area of the house, driveway, walkways, landscaping, etc., and you're left with somewhere around 8,000 sq. ft. of lawn. This is only an average. Many lawns are larger or smaller. When you contact Green Boys Lawncare, we'll measure your lawn for free, and then tell you exactly how much your lawn treatments would cost.
